My Journey to Yercaud

My friend and I planned to visit to near by hill station Yercaud which is about 22 kms from Salem, India. We started our bike around 4.10PM, on the way we had cup of hot black teas with mushroom puffs.

We just entering to foothills of Yercaud and soon started mountain ride by paying 5INR in toll gate. While going from foothills, both of us read about the warning boards such as don’t drink and drive, give way, safety first speed next, a tree give thousands of match box but a match stick will destroy thousands of tress etc and riding our bike 40kms per hour.

About 4kms before destination, in normal days we used to see Hotel Sterling, our luck, we are not able to see that hotel (don’t panic) which is fully covered by mist, wow… climate was excellent and we didn’t expected.

Finally, we reached lake which is in welcoming area and we taken some snaps by using my mobile around 5.00PM then we parked our bike and our foot were going near by lake to hire a boat. We tried, but it’s not available for us because all the boats are occupied by touristic and they are enjoying riding boats on lake.

Then decided to have hill station special snacks “hot bajji” i.e. one of the oil fried snakes (varieties are available with chili, potato, onion, egg) we had chili and onion bajji and soon started to visit pokada point which is 3kms from lake.
We reached there around 5.40PM and parked our bike near by and while entering, offers from fruit shops to taste mixture of all fruits and we accepted offers and tasted fruits, 20INR per plate. (We not bought :-))

For our surprise, the mists are coming down to welcoming us and we saw others are taking snaps with their family/friends. We felt that we don’t have digital camera to takes snaps.

Soon the place (Pakoda point) was covered by mist fully and not able to see others more than 4 feet and the time was around 6.00PM (the scenario was like at 8.00PM) others giving voice very loudly as they are enjoying the mist. (We are able to hear sound of others only not able to see the person)

We decided to take some snaps in my mobile with help of dual flash which is inbuilt. My bad luck, my mobile was running with low battery and we managed somehow.

We enjoyed the climate almost 30/40 mins and then we started to back to lake. As we started our bike to go back to lake, due to mist, we are not able to see the roads and where it goes. We struggle to ride my bike by putting bike break and raising my engine race together so that our bike light will burly to able to see the roads ahead.

Roads were fully covered by mist, due to this, we chosen three different wrong ways which goes to different areas like some guest house, farms. After lot of great efforts and helps from trespasser, we successfully reached near lake around 8.00PM and the time taken for us was around 40mins to cover 3/4kms that includes wrong ways.

As the climate was very cool, we felt our body like frozen and we had cups of very hot teas by saying cheers as we enjoyed the climate and bike ride in first time in both of us life.

We started back to Salem at 8.15PM and the same scenario was continued and we struggled to identify whether it’s normal road or normal curve or hair pin bend. After 6 kms we are coming out from mist and able to ride my bike normally.

Even though we are coming back to Salem we felt that we are missing a lot to enjoyment there, mentally we are not able to leave the place and we happy to see the surprise and joyful in their touristic faces that are coming up by buses and vans.
