Business process outsourcing(BPO) the growing fashion of relocating their whole trade of functions to either self owned or third party service sources, characteristically in inexpensive locations; higher end BPO functions are also known as Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO)
BPO, one of the big sectors in Indian industry and that boast top rank in global BPO market.
BPO work schedule like 24X7 and the working hours were under shift basis without any break based on the project from the country.
Past:
In India, BPO business was started in early 80’s by just having the count of single digit companies. None of us were not expected the huge growth in this sector.
BPO business was started to step up in middle of 90’s in metro cities in India.
Present:
Canadian research says that India is in first rank followed by China and Philippines. India would have 44.6% and China with 25.7% of the total outsourcing.
The growth rate of 2009 will be lesser than the recorded year of 2008 due to the recession and satyam adjustments. Recently, new players were entered in Indian market for the BPO service.
Philippines are expected to lift up their growth in forthcoming years as they also recorded their growth with 21.5 % followed by China.
Subsequently, South Africa, Egypt and Mexico are flourishing as alternative BPO destinations in global BPO market. China continues to attract foreign investors to get the business.
Future:
If it’s continues like this for next five years the growth of Indian BPO will go down and there is a chance for India to relocate our trade of functions to self owned or third party service in low-priced locations.
