Retail chain market in India had reached almost all the cream location in India between 2005 & 2008. It attracts by providing self service, glamourise interior works, filled with all types of products and all brands in one place, payment by cards, attractive points for purchase goods, centralized a/c, fresh greens or fruits and good customer service.

Past:
Before the retail chain market in India, the grocery shops were run by the local shop merchant. They offered free home delivery to their customers to get the orders from them and they were maintaining good relational ship with them. Grocery shops were opened by the shop merchant each and every street day by day.

Present:
Since the retails market in India reaches all cream location by acquires local grocery shop and providing them by profit sharing and the retails market starts decorating their shops. It’s one of the successful ways to reach the Indian market in very big way.Low growth at malls:Today because of global financial crises, who has shopped in the large grocery retail chains had suffered and is almost wholly offset by the cost of petrol expended in getting to a big mall, parking charges and because the shops open at 11:0AM and it takes so long to shop, the lunch or snacks. That is why the growth of shopping at malls has been so poor and it costs too much, eventually.

The big shop keepers are rethinking their strategy. For example, they are beginning to focus on profitable business and it is ideal for meeting the needs of the small stores and institutional buyers such as hotels and hospitals, it means which prefer cash dealing.

Recently, I used to see lots of branded stores were closed in remote places in metro cities.

As I seen the economical way is to keep the shop in limited space, with lots of products to observe customers in some retail chain stores.

Future:From today, the terrific growth of global economy will step up to next level, especially from Asia (India & China). In India, the internet service provider (ISP) will have the tremendous growth in forth coming years when compare to China. India needs to improve the infrastructure and online marketing in retail. Recently, the China’s famous online retail store started to keep their feet in India and they have no limits to invest and other international retail players had discussion with local ventures to start their business.
